Whilst we are pleased with the response we are always striving to improve, so we are presently making a number of changes.

I would also like to thank everyone for their written comments. We had lots of individual positive comments and some very welcome suggestions of ways that we can make the school even better.

I have included some that sum up the responses:

‘Thank you for ensuring my daughter has had a fantastic start to her primary education.’

‘My child’s learning difficulties inhibit progress.  The school is putting in place everything it can to improve progress’.’

‘My child is very happy and loves school as a whole.’

‘I feel my child is happy, healthy and learning well.’

‘We are very happy with the school.  When I have had concerns I have felt listened to and that action has resulted.’

‘I think Queen’s Crescent is an excellent school.  The staff with whom I have had contact all seem to be working towards the same goals and it is a very forward thinking school.  Everyone seems eager to make progress and improvements where needed.  An excellent school with excellent management, Thank you!’

‘I am aware of bullying intervention groups and the schools policy on bullying so believe that should there be any issues that they would be dealt with.

‘My child is very happy and loves coming to school.’

‘My child is making great progress at this school.  They are being pushed to reach targets and even excel in some subjects.’

‘Both my girls have been through a very tough year due to personal circumstances.  The support and teaching received from the staff and teachers has been amazing and both girls are doing so well and are handling things wonderfully.  I am so pleased at their progression with reading and I am very grateful they are so happy and settled at Queen’s Crescent. Thank you!’

‘My child was having some issues with some boys and self-confidence Miss Barker was amazing at handling the situation and there haven’t been any problems since and my daughter’s self-confidence is rising.  My daughter was struggling a little with some maths and since doing numbers count she already has come on leaps and bounds’.

‘We are very happy with the school, its staff and leadership.  Thank you.’

‘We are very happy, because everybody is very friendly and always very helpful.  The school like that the children develop in their education and have respect for all people and things.  You feel you are welcome every day.’

‘I really like this school and fully trust all the staff in both the learning development and safety of my child.’

‘Since out child has joined the school she has been happy and has progressed in her learning as well as confidence.  Her enjoyments of learning and inspiration levels are at their highest!  Thank you!  We are really pleased with the menu change to 3 week rolling one – our child is less bored with the same choices.’

‘It cannot be denied that my child greatly enjoys all other aspects of his school experience and enjoys good relationships with staff at the school, especially Miss Barker.  Thank you for the opportunities he enjoyed with the Christmas play.’

Whilst our anti bullying policy is available in the policies section of the website, the fact that some parents are unsure about it, suggests that we need to be more proactive in explaining what we do.  We have recently attained the BIG (Bullying Intervention Group) award and the SEND anti-bullying award in recognition of the work the school presently does to ensure that bullying incidents are very rare within our school.

We are continually reviewing our homework policy and the amount of home learning your child receives in order to support in class learning and prepare your child for secondary education and the future. We are also reviewing the way that home learning is marked to order to encourage your child to be engaged in their home learning and hence eager to succeed. We always value your feedback on this.

We continue to look at ways to improve the communication between home and school and we now have a Twitter account, Year group and Friends’ Facebook pages, newsletter and the website. The text and e mail system also works well to convey information quickly, as does the class pages on the website. We are always looking at ways to develop this further and again value your feedback on this.

We are proactive in holding a number curriculum workshops and’ Meet the Teacher evenings’ to help parents support their child’s learning throughout the year. We also send home reports twice a year and hold parents’ evenings three times a year to inform parents about progress achieved. If you feel there is another area of learning that you would like further support with, please let us know.

For myself I would like to say that it is a privilege working at Queen’s Crescent School with such a strong team, great children and supportive parents and I would like to thank you once again for taking the time and trouble to complete the questionnaire.

A new Questionnaire will be sent out in February 2017.                 Julia Hawkins
