The composition of the Governing Board is set out in the Articles of Association for QC School Limited, a copy of which is available on the school website, the Articles states both what type of and numbers of governor shall make up the Governing Board.  A summary is set out below:

 

  • The number of Governors shall be not less than three but (unless otherwise determined by ordinary resolution) shall not be subject to any maximum.
  • Up to 5 appointed Governors. Appointed by the Governing Board.
  • A minimum of 2 Parent Governors who shall be elected by parents of registered pupils at the school.
  • 2 Staff Governors elected by staff at the school (must not exceed one-third of the total number of Governors).
  • The Headteacher – Ex officio
  • The Academy Trust may also have any Co-opted Governors. Appointed by the Governing Board by those Governors who have not been co-opted themselves.
  • All Governors are directors and trustees.
  • Members – appointed by Members of the Academy Trust Board.

 

The Full Governing Board meets 7 times a year and is responsible for ensuring good quality education in the school.  They set the school’s aims and policies together with the Headteacher.  The Headteacher is responsible for day-to-day management.  Governors have responsibilities in such areas as curriculum, finance, personnel and special educational needs and disabilities.

 

The Finance and Audit Committee is a sub-committee of the main Board of Governors.  Its purpose is to monitor and challenge the income and expenditure of the Academy Trust, to ensure it remains within the budgetary constraints set at the beginning of the financial year and to act in accordance with the Funding Agreement, Academies Financial Handbook and school’s Scheme of Delegation and Terms of Reference.
