Art

At Queen’s Crescent School we strive to inspire creativity through teaching mastery of a wide range of artistic techniques.

The children:

  • use their own experiences and knowledge of other curriculum subjects as the inspiration for their artwork
  • share their thoughts and ideas through art
  • learn about the work of a range of artists, architects and designers throughout history
  • develop and share ideas in a sketchbook that they continue to update throughout their time at school
  • create a wide variety of large and small-scale finished products that display a range of techniques and skills.

Throughout their time at school the children at Queen’s Crescent undertake a variety of art projects that aim to develop their understanding and skills in the areas of painting, collage, sculpture, drawing, printing, textiles and digital media.

Throughout the year children undertake at least 3 topic-based art projects. In addition to this there are creative days, visits from companies such as The Scrapstore, large scale class projects, whole school projects and visits from local artists. In at least one topic each year the artwork of a modern or historic artist or designer will be studied and used as a basis for the children’s own work.
