Welcome to Year 2


Our teaching team is, Mrs Quintin and Mrs Mungham, who teach in Newt Class and Mrs Butt, who teaches in Otter Class. Our wonderful teaching assistants are Mrs Finner, Mrs Gawke, Mrs Bayliss and Mrs Paterson who support learning in both classes. 

In Year 2 we aim to develop a safe, happy and enjoyable learning environment in which children are able to thrive. Our exciting and motivating Enquiries at the start of year 2 are: 


Term 1: What could my home be made of? (Building homes for fairy-tale characters)  

Term 2: How are schools the same? (Developing a broad Global view of children from around the world) 

Term 3: What is home? & How can we help? (Finding out about world habitats and how we can help the environment) 

Term 4: How do plants grow near me? (Identifying plants in our environment and finding out about conditions for healthy growth) 

Term 5: How do we live a healthy life? (Understanding the need for a balanced diet and preparing a healthy meal)  

Term 6: What did Brunel do for Great Britain? & How will we get around in the future? (Discovering the engineering feats of a local figure of historical importance and considering how transport may change in the future) 


We greatly value the support that you give your children in their learning. Our ‘Meet the Teacher’ presentation will give you an overview of the key information, including information about our home learning and weekly routines.
