Welcome to Year 3 2021/2022

Welcome to Year 3, we are very excited to be part of your child’s learning journey this year! The Y3 teaching team consists of Mr Browning (Willow class), Mr O'Sullivan (Fern class) along with our wonderful TAs Mrs Gawke, Mrs Bayliss and Mrs Hockley in the morning with Mrs Romain, Mrs Wiltshire and Miss Lincoln in the afternoons. Mrs Nolan and Mrs Smith will cover both classes on Thursday afternoons to cover PPA.

We have lots of exciting enquiries planned for this year with many visits and visitors planned in.

Our enquiries this year are:

Term 1: Where does the Darkness Come From?

Term 2: How can we find out about people in the past?

Term 3: What is underneath our feet?

Term 4: What is the difference between surviving and being healthy?

Term 5: How Can you Feel the Force? and How do Plants Die?

Term 6: How do Plants Die? and Why did people travel in the past?

These enquiries will form the basis of much of our foundation subject learning throughout the year (history, geography, DT, art and music) while we will continue to follow the Discovery RE scheme and Jigsaw for PSHE. Our Authors lessons (reading) will take inspiration from our enquiries too. 

Now that the children are in KS2, we will be encouraging them to be more independent in their learning and around the school.  

Important things for Year 3 to remember throughout the week:

• PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays . The children should come to school dressed in their kits on these days.
• Reading Records and reading books need to be handed in on Fridays and new books will be sent home on the same day (when possible)
• Homework due in and given out on Fridays.
